Kathy Langer

The Joint Religious Legislative Coalition honored Kathy Langer Feb. 23 with its highest honor, the Lawrence D. Gibson Interfaith Social Justice Award. Langer is the director of the Office of Social Concerns for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud.

“Throughout her career, Kathy has worked to deepen the understanding of what it means to put faith into action,” the JRLC said in a press release. “The JRLC commends Kathy on two fronts — her commitment to interfaith work to help all persons, regardless of their beliefs, and her commitment to rally her community to serve and empower those struggling with life’s challenges.

“Whether building connections with other organizations, mentoring interns in both career and spiritual growth, building the Catholic Campaign for Human Development or serving the JRLC as a district leader, Kathy exemplifies JRLC’s key values of justice, human dignity, spirituality of dialogue, prophetic leadership, leadership development and, of course, action.”

JRLC is sponsored by the Minnesota Catholic Conference, Minnesota Council of Churches, Jewish Community Relations Council and the Islamic Center of Minnesota.
