Ad Altare Dei retreat for Boy Scouts set

Boy Scouts who wish to earn their Ad Altare Dei Religious Emblems Award at the diocesan retreat weekend Oct. 27-29 can register online at scoutingevent.com/296-2017AdAltareDeiRetreat.

The Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting will host the retreat at Briggs Lodge, Camp Stearns, 3303 Co. Rd. 44, South Haven. Open to any registered Boy Scout, grade seven or older, from the St. Cloud Diocese, the retreat begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, and concludes at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29. The cost is $40 for the weekend, which includes food, lodging and all materials. Boys must bring a copy of the Ad Altare Dei Manual (purchased at the BSA Central MN Council office) and a pen.

Father Ben Kociemba, chaplain, will offer a reconciliation service and weekend Mass on the Saturday of the retreat. During the retreat, young men hear will guest speakers on the church’s seven sacraments and engage in group discussions, fulfilling many of the requirements outlined in the Ad Altare Dei manual. The indoor weekend also includes a campfire and snacks.
