A congregation of 66,000 people filled Ford Field, home of the NFL’s Detroit Lions, which was transformed for the Mass where a large painting of Blessed Solanus was unveiled after the beatification rite at the beginning of Mass Nov. 18.
On Nov. 18, more than a few Hail Marys will be thrown around inside Ford Field. And unlike a football game, every single prayer will be answered.
On Nov. 18, Father Solanus Casey, a Capuchin Franciscan, will be the second American-born male to be beatified, after Father Stanley Rother.
The remains of Father Stanley F. Rother were exhumed from Holy Trinity Cemetery in Okarche as required by the Catholic Church for the beatification process. He was recognized by Pope Francis as a martyr last December.
