The funeral Eucharist will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, in the Sacred Heart Chapel at St. Benedict’s Monastery in St. Joseph. Burial will follow in the St. Benedict’s Monastery Cemetery.
“We’re not going to change the minds of the haters,” Read said, “but I see this as a way to reassure people who are potentially targeted or discriminated against that there are people in the community who are on their side. We may not be as vocal or as obvious as some of the ugly things they’ve seen, but we are here.”
The decision, which they said was made “in the best interest of all of our students and the future of our institutions,” was announced Dec. 8 in a letter to the campus communities in St. Joseph and Collegeville.
